Height shouldn’t come with a wobble.

Most of us reach for something higher than we can comfortably reach every single day: a cabinet shelf, a stovetop, the top of the fridge. The usual fixes are a kitchen chair, a plastic step stool, or standing on tiptoe. None of them are especially stable, and none of them are anything you’d want left out in a beautifully designed room.

Rizer Mat started from a simple idea: an elevating platform stable enough to trust, sitting low enough to leave in place, and designed with enough care that it belongs in your home instead of hiding in a closet.

Why we built it

Built for anyone who stands to reach.

Rizer Mat is for the home cook who’s tired of the step stool tipping on tile. The person organizing high garage shelves. The parent helping two kids reach the bathroom sink at once. Anyone who wants a confident, level surface, wherever they stand the longest.

How we think about design

Furniture first. Equipment second.

Stable by design

A steady 12 × 18 inch platform, a 20 × 32 inch base that grips the floor, and beveled edges, built to be trusted, not just used.

Meant to be seen

A soft, plush finish and a shape that reads as furniture, so it never has to be tucked away between uses.

One press, done

No assembly, no folding mechanism to fight with, just a foot pedal and 8 inches of extra height.

From prototype to product

Five years of getting it right.

Long before the finish you see today, Rizer Mat was raw pine and aluminum on a workshop floor. Every version got a little closer to the platform it is now.

Meet the founder

Five years, one idea.

Rizer Mat was invented by Rick Chesbrough. The idea started with wanting to help his wife, and turned into a journey spanning five years from that first prototype to the Rizer Mat you see today. Hear the story in his own words below.
